Kiev blames Russia for power outages in various parts of Ukraine

Much of eastern Ukraine remains without power.  Water supply system is also closed in these areas.  For this, Ukraine has blamed Russia's attacks on various civilian facilities, including energy infrastructure.  Kiev mentioned that Moscow is carrying out these attacks after losing control of various areas.  Al-Jazeera and BBC news


 A day after Russian troops withdrew from several areas in response to a counterattack by Ukrainian troops, electricity and water supply was cut off in large parts of the eastern part of the country on Sunday.


 In a statement on social media, the governor of Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinegubov, said that there is no electricity or water supply in several areas.  Emergency services are working to bring the fire under control at the places where the attack took place.


The same situation was reported yesterday in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhya and Odesa regions.  However, officials in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions said that power had been restored shortly after the blackout was announced.


 Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said Russia launched the attack out of desperation after suffering heavy losses in eastern Ukraine.


 Dmitri Reznichenko, head of the Dnipropetrovsk region, said in an online statement that Russian forces had attacked energy infrastructure.  They cannot accept defeat in the battlefield.


 Kharkiv's mayor, Ihor Terekhob, said Russia's attacks on civilian facilities had left most of the city without electricity and water.  In a statement on social media, Zelensky said Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were completely without power, and Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions were partially without power.


He pointed out that Moscow is deliberately attacking civilian installations in Ukraine.  Zelensky also said that "Russian terrorists" are responsible for this.  Its purpose is to deprive people of light and heat.


 Rail communication is also being disrupted due to Russian attacks in the eastern part of Russia.  The National Train Service of Ukraine has announced that trains will be delayed in the entire eastern region, including Kharkiv.

Meanwhile, the country's President Zelensky yesterday praised the Ukrainian army for liberating the important eastern city of Ezium and Kharkiv region. In his address to the nation on the 200th day of the beginning of the Russian campaign, he thanked the army for liberating hundreds of towns and villages including Balaklia, Izium, Kupyansk.


 Zelensky said, the Ukrainian troops managed to liberate an area of ​​3,000 square kilometers from last Thursday to yesterday evening.
