'Emergency landing' of plane carrying Imran

 Pakistan

A plane carrying Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan escaped an 'accident', according to reports in the country's media.

Quoting a local TV channel, Daily Pakistan says that the plane carrying Imran made an emergency landing last Saturday due to a technical fault.

The country's ARY News TV reported that Imran Gujranwala was on his way to the city in a special plane to attend an anti-government rally.  The aircraft developed a technical fault shortly after take-off.

The pilot of the aircraft contacted the control tower.  He managed to land the plane safely.

After the emergency landing, Imran went to Gujranwala by road.  He went to Gujranwala and held a rally.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), however, denied that there was a 'technical fault' in the plane carrying Imran in mid-air.

Group leader Azhar told Mashwani that the aircraft returned to Islamabad due to bad weather after take-off.

This PTI leader tweeted that the news of technical fault in the aircraft is not true.

At the Gujranwala rally, Imran directly addressed the Pakistan Army.  He said that they will be held responsible for the further deterioration of the country and economic condition under the current government of Pakistan.

Imran urged the people of Pakistan to come out in different places across the country to show solidarity with PTI.

On April 9, Imran was ousted by a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly of Pakistan. He alleged that there was a US conspiracy behind his ouster. After Imran was ousted from power, a coalition government was formed under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif.
