Russia Admittedly losing control to Ukraine

Ukrainian forces have launched a fierce counterattack against Russian troops in the eastern part of Ukraine.  In this situation, Russia has announced the withdrawal of troops from the eastern part of Kharkiv.  Russian troops have lost control of several areas of Kharkiv in the face of fierce attacks by Ukrainian troops.

It has been claimed by Kiev that they have liberated an area of more than 3,000 square kilometers in the eastern part of the country from Russian forces this month.

Ukrainian General Valery Zaluzhny said in a statement on social media, "Since the beginning of September, more than three thousand kilometers have come under the control of Ukrainian forces.  Around Kharkiv we hold progress.  Not only in the south or east, but also in the north, Russian troops have been able to retreat.  We have penetrated up to 50 km from the border.

A Moscow-backed leader in eastern Ukraine said Russian troops were facing a tough battle in some areas of eastern Donetsk.

A Ukrainian official said Kiev's troops had moved closer to the eastern city of Lisychansk.  Earlier, Russian troops captured Lysichansk after intense fighting in July.

Meanwhile, last Saturday's announcement by Russia to withdraw its troops and Kiev's demand to liberate the city of Kupyansk gives a glimpse of a major change in the actual picture of the battlefield.  On February 24, Russian troops started attacking Ukraine.  Since then, Moscow has dominated the fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Russia's defense ministry said it had withdrawn its troops from Ezhyum and Kupyansk.  They also confirmed the withdrawal of troops from the city of Balaklia to strengthen the forces fighting in Donetsk.  Ukrainian forces entered the town of Balaklia on Friday.

News of the Russian troop withdrawal comes after Ukrainian special forces released photos on social media of their liberation of Kupyansk, a city of about 27,000.  Two towns in Kharkiv, Vasilenkovo and Artemivka, were also claimed by Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed this last Saturday.  He said, Russian troops are retreating in the last days.  There is no place in Ukraine for occupying forces.
