Ukraine will fight to the end: Zelensky on Independence Day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine will ultimately resist Russian aggression without any concessions or compromises.  Six months after the start of the war, he expressed his determination to continue the fight in a speech on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day on Wednesday.

People of Ukraine celebrated Independence Day on Wednesday amid fear of Russian attack.  Zelensky gave a video message this morning on the occasion of Independence Day.  The President of Ukraine said to Russia, "We don't care what kind of army you have.  Our thoughts are only about our own land.  We will continue to fight till the end to protect our motherland.'
Zelensky also said, "Ukraine will not make any attempt to negotiate with terrorists."  To us, Ukraine means the whole of Ukraine.  We will continue the fight to protect the 25 territories without any concessions or compromises.

Even though it was Independence Day, sirens could be heard in Kyiv since Wednesday morning to warn residents of the attack.  In addition, the city authorities have banned public gatherings in Kyiv.  Meanwhile, Zelensky urged the citizens of the country to be on the alert for attacks by "terrorists" in Russia.

After the collapse of the former Soviet Union, Ukraine emerged as an independent country on August 24, 1991.  Today was the 31st anniversary of independence.
Meanwhile, the United States is going to announce another 3 billion dollars in military aid to Kiev on Ukraine's Independence Day.  The announcement may be made on Wednesday, a US official said last Tuesday.  This year's arms shipment emphasizes ammunition and more medium-term defense measures.
