Trinamool president removed in Tripura

The Trinamool Congress, which started campaigning in Tripura with much fanfare, suffered a dismal result in the Assembly by-election earlier this year.  After this, factional conflict started within the party.  The effect of this conflict can be seen in the recent assembly by-elections.  Trinamool candidate's security was confiscated in four election centers.  After that Trinamool could not turn around in Tripura.  In this situation, Trinamool Congress removed state president Subal Bhowmik from the post of president today.

In a statement Trinamool Congress informed this information.  It said that former Congress leader Subal Bhowmik is accused of being in touch with the BJP and providing information.  He is also accused of giving extra benefits to his own people.
It has been informed by Trinamool that until the new president is appointed, state observer Rajeev Banerjee and member of Rajya Sabha Sushmita Dev will handle the party work.  The incumbent leaders of the State Committee, State Youth and Women Committee, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Committee will continue in their respective posts, the statement said.

The Trinamool Congress, led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew and Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, embarked on a mission to win Tripura a year ago.  Initially, it seemed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and India's main opposition party, the Congress, would easily win the 2023 assembly elections in Tripura.  But a year later, the Trinamool seems to have fallen behind in Tripura.  In fact, there was some rise of Congress and CPIM at this time.  On the other hand, BJP has managed to maintain its position.
The Trinamool crisis became more pronounced after the party's state president Subal Bhowmik was removed.  A local leader of Tripura Trinamool, on the condition of anonymity, told Prothom Alo that various complaints were being heard against Subal Bhowmik for the past few months.  He said that the Kolkata leadership was also informed that he (Subhal Bhowmik) was in touch with the BJP internally.  As a result, there was no other option but to remove him.

In April this year, Subal Bhowmik was appointed as the Trinamool state president.  Rumors are heard in the political circles that he may join the BJP in the future after being removed from the Trinamool.
Rajiv Banerjee quit Trinamool before the 2021 assembly elections.  Later he returned to the team again.  After that, he has been working for the party from Tripura for almost a year.  Rajiv has a chance as president after Subal Bhowmik's removal, but he is not a Tripura man.

As a result, it is not possible to say who will be the president in the end.  However, Trinamool has to take this decision quickly because there will be assembly elections in the next six months.
