Islamic Development Bank-Bangladesh Islamic Solidarity Education Wakf (IsDB-BISEW) is a joint venture between the Government of Bangladesh and the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  IsDB-BISEW formulates, finances and implements self-financed work-oriented education and various projects aimed at employment of the youth of Bangladesh in the IT and technical education sector.

 IT Scholarship Program is one of the programs conducted by IsDB-BISEW.  Through this program thousands of trainees successfully complete their training every year and develop attractive careers as skilled IT professionals.  They are engaged in various reputed organizations in the country and abroad and many have established themselves as entrepreneurs.  Apart from this, he is bringing remittances for the country by working as a freelancer in various online marketplaces.

92 percent of the students who completed the training are working in other IT professions besides Web Developer, Software Developer, Database Developer, Network Engineer, Visual & Graphics Engineer, CAD Engineer.

 Notably, IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship is the only formal training program in Bangladesh, where graduates from any discipline (Science, Commerce or Humanities) get an opportunity to participate in international quality and professional IT training completely free of cost.  IsDB-BISEW provides an opportunity for interested students to pursue a career in IT, even if they cannot pursue an academic degree in IT due to various obstacles.

 Application Eligibility: Students studying in Graduation/Fazil Pass or Masters/Kamil are eligible to apply for the scholarship.  Apart from this, four-year Diploma-in-Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication/Civil/Architecture/Survey/Construction only) pass candidates can also apply.

About some successful people

 "An effective training is enough to build a better career and future life," said IT professional working in Grameenphone.  Babul Akhtar.  He completed a one-year 'Database Design and Development' course under the IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Program after completing his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from a government college in Pabna.  First, he started working in the software development team at Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and later joined Leeds Corporation as a software engineer.  Currently, he is working as a Senior Executive in the Business Intelligence Department at Grameenphone.

 AKM Rafiqul Alam was interested in computers since childhood.  But due to financial crisis of the family, he did not get the opportunity to study or train in this subject.  After completing his Bachelor's degree in Political Science, he completed the course 'Enterprise Systems Analysis & Design with C#.NET' of IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Program.  Currently Rafiqul is working as a Software Engineer at KAZ Software.  The IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Program helped change his career.

 A. K. M. Khademul Hasan, while studying Physics (Honours) at Dhaka College, decided to change his career to the Information Technology (IT) sector.  Because he knew that IT is one of the emerging sectors in Bangladesh and there are attractive job opportunities for qualified people.  He successfully completed the one-year 'Database Design and Development' course under the IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Programme.  15 days before completing the course, Khademul started working as an intern at Spectrum Engineering Consortium and within six months, he was confirmed as a junior database administrator.  Khademul is currently working as a Senior Executive Officer (Database Administrator) in the IT Department of Madhumati Bank Limited.  He said, 'IsDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Program has played a major role in my success today.'

Other Activities of IsDB-BISEW: Apart from the IT Scholarship Programme, IsDB-BISEW is running four other technical education based programs in Bangladesh.  Vocational training program started from 2012 is one of them.  Through this program, six months of free hands-on training (including board and lodging) is given to students who have dropped out after high school or SSC examination in any of the 5 trades—Electrical Works, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Welding and Fabrication, Machinist and Electronics.  Almost 100% of those who have successfully completed their training from here are employed in various fields.

 IsDB-BISEW has established 6 Madrasas and 1 Orphanage in different areas of Bangladesh and first introduced vocational courses in 2008 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board in Madrasas.  About 32 thousand 250 students have benefited by studying in different classes under the madrasa program.  Of these, 1,732 candidates passed the vocational examination and among those who passed, 231 students are pursuing four-year Diploma-in-Engineering in various subjects in government polytechnic institutes funded by IsDB-BISEW.  This program of IsDB-BISEW paves the way for Madrasa students to become engineers through technical education.  Information on various programs conducted by IsDB-BISEW is available on the institute's website.
