Who will be Pakistan's Afridi-Amir against India today?

 Game

Mitchell Starc, Mostafizur Rahman, Mohammad Amir, Trent Boult, Shaheen Afridi and Reece Topley—the first match of these pacers are all left-handed.  But the biggest similarity is that it is these left-handers who have troubled India's batting lineup the most in important matches in the last seven years.

When Pakistan face India today in Dubai, Babar Azma will surely feel the absence of Amir and Afridi.  Amir is already out of the squad, Afridi was dropped just before the start of the Asia Cup.

Both of them were the heroes in Pakistan's last two wins against India.  Apart from Amir and Afridi, there is no left-arm pacer in the Pakistan XI today.

Who will play left-handed for Babar in Dubai International Stadium?

There are five pace bowlers in Pakistan's Asia Cup team.  Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Shahnewaz Dahani, Mohammad Hasnain and Hasan Ali—all five are right-arm pacers.

On the other hand, the first five players in India's batting lineup are all right-handed.  Left-handed batsman Rishabh Pant is at number 6 after Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya.

While India's batting lineup is full of right-handers, Pakistan's pace attack is entirely right-handed.  Pakistan is not getting the opportunity to exploit the inherent advantage of the left-handed pacer against the right-handed batsman.

Rohit and Kohli are considered the two main pillars of India's batting.  Both bat in the top order, both have weaknesses in left-arm pace.

Rohit averages 22.40 runs against left-arm pacers in international and domestic T20 editions, while 33.73 runs against right-arm pacers.  So far, Rohit has been dismissed 28 times in ODIs and 41 times in T20Is.

However, Kohli has suffered the most 90 dismissals against left-arm pacers in India's top order (second place is Rohit 71).

Statistics from the last seven years show that India's batting lineup, especially the top order, has been shakiest against left-arm pace in important matches.

Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc in the 2015 World Cup semi-final (4 wickets each), Mustafiz (13 wickets in 3 ODIs) in the Bangladesh tour of the same year, Boult (Kohli and Jadeja's wickets) in the 2019 World Cup semi-final and Toplira (9 wickets in 3 matches) in the England tour this year.  ) has affected India the most.

In India's two defeats against Pakistan in the last five years in the battle for status, the two left-handers were the main hit.  Chasing Pakistan's 338 in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Rohit and Kohli lost to Amir within 6 runs.

The next batsmen could not handle the initial shock.  In the end, they were all out for 158 runs and lost the Champions Trophy title by 180 runs.  Another left-hander had to suffer from Afridi in the T20 World Cup match held in Dubai last year.

This time also 2 wickets are not within 6 runs;  Rahul and Rohit out to Shaheen - one bowled, the other LBW.  In the end the match had to be lost by a big margin of 10 wickets.

Pakistan has no more left-arm pacers to give such a shock to India's batting.  Former Pakistani cricketers believe that this will give Kohli an additional advantage.

Walker Younis has said that the Indian batsmen are 'relieved' by Afridi's dismissal.  Aqib Javed also said the same thing.

Where there is comfort in India, there is discomfort in Pakistan.  There is no left-hander in the team, who will be Amir-Afridi in today's match?

The answer to the question will be known in the match which will start at 8 pm.
